The Way Forward

Some of you may have heard that I am one of three new Deputy Chairmen of the United Bermuda Party. The new slate of party officers is:

  • Chairman: Sean Pitcher

  • Deputy: Jeff Sousa

  • Deputy: Alvin Wilson

  • Deputy: Douglas De Couto

  • Treasurer: Richard Krupp

  • Secretary: Alberta Waite

One project I hope to work on is improving our communication to the members and public about what is going on with the party, what we've achieved, and what we are thinking. This includes taking better advantage of blogs & other technologies.

If you have any opinions on this topic, and would like to make a suggestion, please contact me.

Are many of the other candidates from 2007 that lost still involved in the party?
I am speaking of Kenneth Bascome, Suzanne Holshouser, Keith Young, Austin Warner, Marilyn Steede, Tillman Darrell, Roderick Simons, Gina Spence Farmer, David Dodwell, Ed Bailey, Sarah Burrows, Donald Hassell.
I notice that oftentimes the UBP has candidates that run for one election and then disappear. It makes me wonder if perhaps they are discarded afterwards, or perhaps weren't treated as though they were valued.

Well, what can I say, congratulations to your election. I hope you are able to help your party out of the doldrums.

Putting a different PA system on the band of the Titanic isn't going to change anything.

Unless the UBP can do something about the PLP's 'Big Lie history' version of the UBP's goals/purpose (that it was created principally to suppress black Bermudians), it has no hope.

If it can't do that - and I'd rate the chances as slim to none, that fantasy is pretty deeply embedded by now - it needs to shut down, which will in turn force other changes in Bermuda politics.

Assuming this is isn't all too late, anyway, which it might not be - if IB bails, as it might well do, it's 'last person out ... lights' time.
